Gypsum is a naturally occurring chemical compound also known as calcium sulfate dehydrate. Gypsum can correct and even prevent salt build up. It can also provide greater stability of organic soil matter and improve water penetration into the soil. Excessive magnesium can lead to lower oxygen, and create anaerobic conditions in the soil. Adding Gypsum can help aerate soil and help to maintain aerobic conditions.
